Windsor Athletic FC Player Placement
Thank you for your interest in Windsor Athletic FC. We are excited to announce our player placement process for the 2025/26 Soccer Season
This year we will have two different processes, depending on if you are already a member of Windsor Athletic FC or you are an external player interested in the club. Below we will have detailed information for each process.
External Players:
All players who do not currently play for a Windsor Athletic FC competitive or Junior Academy (Formerly LDP) team should fill out the player interest form linked below. In addition to the interest form, you will need to register for player placements in order to be offered a spot on a team.
Internal Players:
If you are currently on a Windsor Athletic FC competitive or Junior Academy (Formerly LDP) team, or play with us in the Intermediate program you will need to register for player placement and NOT the player interest form. If you don't register for player placement we cannot offer you a spot on a team, even if you are already playing for Windsor Athletic FC.
Please check our "Birth Year Training and Player Placement Schedule" for specific times and locations for your age group.
Internal Players:
As a current Competitive of Junior Academy player, evaluations are not based on a single session or tryout — they are ongoing and integrated into everything we do.
Our internal players have been under evaluation all year by both coaches and club leadership. We observe players consistently in training, games, and team environments to get a full picture
of their development.
Players are evaluated using the four pillars of the game:
- Technical – ball mastery, receiving, passing, dribbling, finishing
- Tactical – understanding of the game, positioning, decision-making
- Psychological – mindset, confidence, resilience, leadership
- Physical – athleticism, speed, strength, stamina, coordination
As the season progresses, coaches and directors meet to discuss each player's development and determine their best placement for continued growth. Our goal is to put players in the right
environment — where they’re challenged, supported, and able to thrive.
We are committed to clear communication with families and ensuring everyone understands the “why” behind the decisions made during the evaluation process.
External Players:
External players are encouraged to fill out the External Player Interest Form linked above as early as possible. Those who have expressed interest may be asked to attend Birth Year Trainings prior to external player tryouts. We want to assure that this does not interfere with your current team's activities, and if you can't attend the schedule Birth Year trainings we will work with you to find another time.
External player tryouts will be held Tuesday, May 27th through Friday, May 30th. All external players who wish to take place in player placements are required to register online via the "Player Registration" button and the "External Player Interest Form" and arrive 15 mins prior to the start time. Tryout evaluators will be made up of qualified coaches, staff coaches, and technical staff members from within Windsor Athletic FC.
